American Air Purification

Our Services:
We specialize in the cleaning of HVAC systems and air ducts as well as the remediation of contaminated
HVAC systems. Our services fall under CSI code 23-31-13 in construction projects.
Why do construction companies need to consider indoor air quality?
1) Risk of health related lawsuits
HVAC systems can become contaminated during construction and if not cleaned can represent a health risk
to the new occupants of the building. For example:
· Moister in HVAC systems can lead to the growth of mold
· Drywall dust left in the air ducts poses a nuisance
· New duct work can become contaminated when connected to old ductwork
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency:
“School districts and project architects across the country have experienced litigation related to poor
indoor air quality resulting from construction activities. Addressing these issues before and during
construction will reduce exposure of the district and designers to potentially expensive litigation in the
future.” http://www.epa.gov/iaq/schooldesign/construction.html
2) Cost reduction
It is typically much more economical to refurbish existing ductwork than to replace it.
Experience and Expertise:
Our team is led by Jeff Propps who is a member of the NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaning Association), is
ASCS certified (Air Systems Cleaning Specialist) and is an Energy Star Contractor. Jeff has been engaged in
restoration, remediation and the cleaning of HVAC systems for 10 years and has managed the following air
cleaning projects:
· Bureau of Workers Compensation (34 stories): The BWC building has two 15 story shafts and over a
million square feet of offices. We were able to clean these shafts and offices while keeping the
building operational.
· Michigan State University (2.7million square feet): It took us only 5 weeks to clean a number of
buildings, each of which was over 350,000 square feet. Many of these systems contained design
modifications that presented difficulties that had to be solved on the spot.
· Ohio Supreme Court: The Ohio Supreme Court restoration project was a delicate restoration
involving many pieces of irreplaceable artwork and architecture. By restoring rather than replacing
the ductwork we were able to save the State of Ohio more than $100,000 as well as avoiding any
damage to artwork and architecture.
